In a Nutshell: Samantha Oppenheimer was born to travel. Her Find Love & Travel blog chronicles her love of adventure and photography, celebrates diverse global destinations, and helps cardholders make the most of their journey. Samantha’s blog is packed with stories about the places she’s been to, guides to streamline travel planning, and resources to make booking and paying for travel easier. Credit card hacks include always traveling with the right rewards card for the job. Find Love & Travel inspires travelers to step confidently into the world.

As the first person in her family to graduate from college, Samantha Oppenheimer thought she had her life figured out when she started her career.

Then she discovered that working for large multinational corporations didn’t speak to her soul.

Samantha had plenty of time to stare out her Long Island office window and remember her travel dreams growing up. She explored when she could with her husband, shared photos on Instagram, and hoped for a day when a desk job didn’t chain her to a routine.

Joining the travel community on Instagram opened Samantha’s eyes. She befriended global nomads who had nothing but good things to say about quitting their jobs and hitting the road.

Samantha began discussing that option with her husband. Meanwhile, her mother-in-law, who journeyed to Tanzania to volunteer and started a blog documenting the experience, served as a role model.

Eventually, Samantha realized she had to follow her passion. The couple had purchased round-trip tickets to Iceland. All it took to start a new life was canceling the return trip. It was one country after another from there.

“It took me months and months to convince my husband to do it,” she said.

Somehow, Samantha knew she would never return to a deskbound marketing job. Find Love & Travel is the result.

The blog is Samantha Oppenheimer’s travel dreams come true. She shares her authentic experiences and lessons with a loyal audience, always eager for more.

“We planned until Thailand, and then we were like, let’s see where the journey takes us,” Samantha said. “When we returned home, I went to a conference and met some other bloggers. I knew I could make it happen.”

Authentic Travel Experiences and Advice

Authenticity sets Find Love & Travel apart from other travel sites. Samantha writes the site’s entire content based on her personal experiences, apart from a few entries in travel roundup articles.

“For an article on the best day trips from Paris, maybe I haven’t been to all the places you could go on a day trip from Paris,” Samantha said. “So I’ll reach out to other bloggers in my community who have been to those places and get 200-300 words from them about places they recommend.”

But that’s it — the rest is all Samantha.

“When you browse my travel blog, you are getting my firsthand travel experiences,” she wrote on her About Me page. “I hope you leave my site with all the information you were searching for and come back when you’re in need of new travel tips and inspiration!”

There’s plenty of that. Destination articles describe Samantha’s trips to Africa, Asia, Central America, Europe, the UK, and the US.

Trip-planning guides help readers make the best choices at North American and European destinations. New York City is a highlight — Samantha is a New Yorker at heart who lives in North Carolina.

There are also sections on travel packing guides, stories of travel inspiration, and travel resources. A dedicated section on travel tips rounds out the site.

Readers count on Samantha for genuine inspiration regardless of the stories she tells.

“I have a long list of things I want to write about,” Samantha said. “Sometimes I decide on seasonality, publishing articles on spring adventures in spring, for example. After I go on a trip, I write as much as possible while it’s still fresh in my head.”

Travel Hacks Include Choosing Relevant Rewards Cards

You learn a thing or two about travel when you make your living as a travel writer. Samantha’s travel style has changed as she’s gained experience and confidence. For example, she was more budget-obsessed in her early travels than now.

“I’d try not to eat out all the time and just grab a couple of simple things at the grocery store,” she said. “I would take the train from the Paris airport to my hotel instead of an Uber.”

Egypt Travel Guide
Samantha’s Travel Guides contain all you need to know to plan the perfect trip.

She places more value on time and experiences today than when she started. For example, it’s easier to Uber from the airport, and the cuisine in Paris is to die for.

Take her experience in Singapore. She had the opportunity to book one night at Singapore’s famous Marina Sands Hotel. At that time, she didn’t want to splurge on it, even though she had the funds to do so. She realizes now that she may never travel that way again, and a one-day stay would not have been unreasonable.

“I don’t know the next time I’ll be in Singapore, and I wish I had spent the extra money on it,” she said.

Samantha has also learned to use reward cards. She recommends picking cards that do the job you ask them to do. To avoid grocery trips, she travels with cards that offer the best points deals on meals. She also chooses cards with no foreign transaction fees and as few usage fees as possible.

“I’m definitely racking up the points,” she said.

Other travel tips include using air tags in luggage to protect against lost bags and investing in good travel insurance. Insurance protection once saved Samantha and her husband thousands of dollars after her spouse got sick on a trip.

“When you need it, it really makes a difference,” she said.

Helping People Travel Better

Samantha’s practical yet vivid writing draws readers to Find Love & Travel and keeps them returning for more. She credits grammar-checking software, but her writing comes from the heart of a travel lover and conveys her passion and attention to detail.

Anyone who has planned a trip knows that success hinges on the details.

A past trip to Bali was a highlight. Samantha’s Ultimate Bali Travel Guide informs prospective travelers about what to expect and describes some of her exciting times.

Saraswati Temple
Samantha at the Saraswati Temple, a water palace in Ubud, Bali. She strongly connected with the people and spirituality of Bali.

“I loved the people and the spiritual connection,” she said. “It felt very authentic.”

A trip to Costa Rica generated good and bad memories. Samantha came down with COVID-19 on that trip, but what she saw of that natural wonderland impressed her.

On the other hand, Egypt was all good. Samantha handles the logistics of her ambitious trip in her travel guide before diving into the experience.

A late 2023 adventure in South Africa was another highlight. As an animal lover who once planned to become a vet, Samantha left a South African safari experience permanently inspired.

“I wish I had the money to send people on safari because it was a life-changing journey,” she said. “I loved it so much that when I returned home, I booked another safari in Tanzania for July.”

Samantha’s goal in preparing comprehensive content for Find Love & Travel is to help people get the most out of their adventures. Meeting new people and exploring new places can create lasting memories when delays and frustration don’t bog people down. Samantha’s writing empowers readers to make productive travel decisions. It’s worth it, she said.

“I don’t recommend dropping everything and quitting your job like I did,” Samantha said. “But you only live once, and you never know what tomorrow brings.”
