Chase Sapphire Preferred Brings Back 100,000-Point Bonus

In addition to refreshing its card benefits, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is wooing new customers with 100,000 in bonus points. To earn these bonus points, new customers must spend $5,000 on the card in the three months after opening their account.

Chase Sapphire Preferred card comes with a $95 annual fee. The 100,000 bonus points offer is only available for a limited time. For people with a few thousand dollars they are likely to spend and looking for a new credit card to use, this could be a good opportunity to earn a large number of bonus points.

To get the most of this new offer, new customers must be able to pay their credit card accounts in full each month. Otherwise, they will be paying interest charges on the card, which is a high price to pay for those bonus points.

Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be used for cash back, Chase Travel, or the points can be transferred to airline and hotel partners. Points also may be applied to Amazon.com purchases,  Apple purchases, and to more than 175 gift cards.

New Chase Sapphire Preferred customers who earn the 100,000 in bonus points will need to wait awhile to redeem their points. According to the Chase website, consumers will need to wait six to eight weeks before the bonus points are added to their accounts. The points won’t expire as long as the account stays open.

Here are a couple of new ways to earn points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Cardholders will earn 3X points on gas and EV charging and 3X points on vacation home rentals from brands such as Airbnb and Vrbo. 

Cardholders also earn 5X points on Chase Travel, 3X points on dining, 3X points on top streaming services and online grocery services, 2X points on all other travel, and 1X points on all other purchases made with the card.

In addition, cardholders earn 5X points on Peloton purchases and 5X points on rides with Lyft.

Some benefits with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card have been added and expanded. For example, benefits include cardholders receiving a $100 Chase Travel Hotel Credit on the account anniversary of their Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Previously just $50, this benefit has doubled in value.

For assistance at the airport, cardholders may receive a credit of up to $120 to be used toward Global Entry, TSA Precheck or Nexus every four years. 

Cardholders also receive a complimentary Apple TV subscription for one year when the service is activated before Dec. 31, 2026.
