Bank of America and Royal Caribbean Group are launching two new credit cards, Royal ONE and Royal ONE Plus.

The cardholders of these Visa signature cards earn reward points for everyday purchases and vacation spending at Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea.

“These new cards bring together the ways our guests vacation across Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea – making it easier to earn and use rewards, so every trip delivers greater value and more meaningful experiences,” said Jason Liberty, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group.

Royal ONE Card Benefits

The Royal ONE Card has no annual fee and cardholders earn 3 points per dollar spent on purchases with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea, 2 points per dollar spent on groceries, gas and EV charging, and 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases made with the card.

Royal ONE cardholders enjoy priority boarding for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises, Visa Signature travel protections, and pay no foreign transaction fees.

Royal ONE Plus Card Benefits

The Royal ONE Plus card comes with a $99 annual fee. Cardholders earn 4 points per dollar spent on purchases with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea, 2 points per dollar spent on groceries, gas, EV charging, air travel, hotel and dining, and 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases.

The Royal ONE Plus cardholders receive several travel perks including priority suite boarding with the three cruise lines, priority luggage handling with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises, and a $120 TSA PreCheck Global Entry credit every four years.

As with the Royal ONE card, Royal ONE Plus cardholders enjoy Visa Signature Travel protections and no foreign transaction fees when they travel.

“Offering both a no-fee card and an enhanced rewards card gives travelers more ways to maximize spending and earn bigger rewards, said Lora Monfared, head of consumer card products at Bank of America.

Impact on Credit Card Market

With these two new credit cards, Bank of America and Royal Caribbean are combining three key brands, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea into one big rewards opportunity for cardholders.

Most credit card travel rewards cards are associated with a single brand such as an airline or hotel. Royal ONE and Royal ONE Plus cards offer three cruise line brands for cardholders to earn rewards.

The no-fee Royal ONE card and $99-annual-fee Royal ONE Plus card provide some premium travel benefits and some rich rewards but with affordable prices. These cards may appeal to consumers who enjoy cruise line travel and are frequent travelers.

Other travel rewards cards offer flexible ways to earn and use points. These cards are designed for cruise line travelers who know what they want: more opportunities for cruising.

The Bottom Line

Bank of America and Royal Caribbean Group are launching two new travel rewards credit cards. These cards, the Royal ONE card and Royal ONE Plus card, allow cardholders to earn rewards points for everyday purchases and on vacations spent on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea cruise lines.

The Royal ONE card has no annual fee, charges no foreign transaction fees, and provides rewards points for cruise travel and other purchases, including gas, groceries, and EV charging. The Royal ONE Plus comes with richer rewards, more travel perks, and charges a $99 annual fee.
