Visa wants to be part of your vacation before you ever swipe, tap, or insert your card.

The payments giant has launched Visa Destinations, a mobile-first travel platform that helps eligible Visa cardholders find exclusive experiences tied to food, culture, shopping, entertainment, wellness, and other travel interests. The platform is now live as summer travel picks up

The platform gives Visa another way to stay visible with consumers beyond the moment they pay.

The launch comes as more travelers build trips around experiences, not just destinations. Visa said 40% of American travelers last year took a trip for an arts festival, music event, sports experience, or similar passion-driven activity. And passion-based travel may not slow down any time soon.

sports experience last year

“Travel is expected to grow 10% annually over the coming years,” Katya Petelina, Head of Global Cross-Border and Global Sales & Commercial Operations at Visa, said in the release. “Our latest Visa Global Travel Intentions Study indicates customers will cut back on everyday spending to save for planned travel.”

Travel can be expensive, but planning what to do after arriving can be its own challenge. Visa Destinations is designed to help travelers prepare by offering city guides, activity recommendations, and access to curated experiences.

Starting With Iconic Destinations

Visa announced that the program is available in 10 locations around the world. Though 10 is a relatively small number — given all the possible places people may have on their travel bucket list — the company does have some of the top vacation spots covered at this point.

Cardholders can currently use Visa Destinations to discover experiences in Dubai, London, Mexico City, Miami, Milan, New York City, Paris, Rome, San Francisco, and Thailand.

People shouldn’t be too disappointed if they don’t see a location that they plan to travel to in the coming months on the list. Visa indicated in its press release that it will be adding more destinations later in 2026.

Visa Destinations includes a range of travel experiences across dining, entertainment, culture, hospitality, wellness, shopping, and transport that it offers cardholders. If a traveler is interested in bypassing the lines at the Louvre Museum in Paris, Visa Destinations has an offer for that.

In New York, Visa cited Top of the Rock experiences among the types of activities available through the platform.

Visa Destinations helps cardholders to access a multitude of engaging experiences, including ones that center on dining, entertainment, and shopping.

The program’s website allows cardholders to find activities that align with their preferences whether those are cultural events, dining experiences, shopping excursions, or other areas of interest.

From a cardholder perspective, the new offering makes a lot of sense. Visa appears to be leaning on its brand recognition to move deeper into travel discovery, an area usually associated with travel platforms, hotel brands, and concierge services.

And, as Petelina reveals in her comments from the press release, the program will benefit more than just Visa cardholders.

“With Visa destinations, we are accompanying travelers throughout their journey and helping them discover the moments that make a destination memorable, while giving our issuers and merchant partners a meaningful way to participate in the economic growth that travel creates,” she said.
