PNC announced its latest credit card, the PNC Spend Wise Visa®, for consumers seeking a payments vehicle that rewards financially responsible behaviors.

The card motivates consumers to make payments toward their balance every month. Cardholders earn an APR reduction when they make purchases totaling $3,000 or more with the card — and submit at least the minimum amount due on or in advance of monthly due dates — over a period of 12 billing cycles

The financial institution’s newest card offering is a response to the availability of certain features in the credit card marketplace, said Nate Bacon, PNC Bank’s Head of Credit Cards, in a press release.

Consumers can access reduced APRs with PNC’s new credit card.

“Through extensive research and direct client feedback, we identified a gap in the market: while many credit cards incentivize spending, few actively promote and recognize responsible debt management,” Bacon said.

“PNC Spend Wise addresses that void, as it’s built on the principle that financial responsibility should be rewarded just as much as spending,” he added.

The card comes with an introductory offer that provides further APR relief. Cardholders can enjoy a 0% introductory APR on purchases they make with the card during the first 18 months after they open it. Balance transfers also have a 0% introductory APR for the same time period when cardholders transfer their balances within 90 days of opening the account.

Cardholders then receive a variable APR based on creditworthiness. At the time of its launch, the PNC Spend Wise card carries a variable APR of 20.24% to 30.24%.

Helping Cardholders Save on Subscriptions

Credit card debt is a growing problem in the U.S. Federal Reserve data revealed that credit card balances ballooned to $1.21 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2024, which represents more than a 7% increase over card balance totals from one year earlier.

Cardholders can keep more money in their bank accounts with PNC Spend Wise’s APR reduction feature. Even a small decrease in a card’s APR can produce significant savings over time.

But that’s not the only attribute of the card that can save money for consumers. Cardholders can earn $25 in credits they can apply to digital subscription services when they use the card to make eligible purchases with Disney Plus, Netflix, and Spotify.

Cardholders can use the card to pocket additional savings on digital subscription services.

The PNC Spend Wise comes with no annual fee. PNC customers prioritize benefits and savings, and the company’s newest card offering was designed to allow them to access both of these priorities, said Jeff Hofmann, Head of Retail Lending at PNC, in the press release.

“PNC Spend Wise reflects PNC’s commitment to designing products that meet our clients’ needs and help them to build healthier financial habits, while maximizing their financial rewards,” Hofmann said.
